My interest in photography has encouraged me to look at all aspects of the world more closely, including insects. Nowadays one of my happy hobbies of spring and summer is to go butterfly-watching at our local nature reserves.  I also spend as many hours as possible wandering around my garden in search of the elusive and quick-moving little flutterers. The magic of the macro lens again reveals patterns and details which I wouldn't normally see.  I've been planting my garden with as many bug- and butterfly-attracting plants as possible (including cabbages, alas, which are intended for the human residents but which the caterpillars love!).
